A Roadmap to your best 2020 Munga

We've developed a road map to get you to the Munga in the best possible shape and get you through the race at any cost -  "this is not your ordinary mountain bike race",  so then why should your training be ordinary.

Who we are?

Developed by one of the leading ultra endurance racers in the country, as well as experience exercise physiologist and ultra endurance coach, Dion Guy.
Dion has completed the Munga three times with his highest placing being 2nd in 2017 (while racing with a broken rib!). He often frequents the podium in 300km+ races across the country and has more importantly coached numerous athletes both to the the ultra endurance podium or just achieving there goals and getting them safely to the end.

Supported by Tiaan Ronne, 2 times Munga veteran and arguably the best improved Munga rider year on yet. Tiaan is no stranger to ultra endurance rides. Starting on the rode riding Audax rides and eventually moving to the dark side! He's no stranger in knowing what it takes to complete the Munga 


Dion Guy - "Ultra endurance coaching is not only about conditioning, time in the saddle an intervals. That's only a small piece of the puzzle and actually a very small part of getting yourself ready. The mental prep, the nutritional requirements, the heat acclimitization, race day strategy, bike and equipment set up and even just making sure your touchpoints allow you to get to the end, these are just some of the additional dynamics that ultra endurance cyclists have to know how to deal with. All the training in the world can get you to the start, but if you haven't addressed all of these, you minimize your chances of completing the event. We've been there, I know!"

​Thats why the Munga roadmap addresses all of these and more through not only a bespoke individualised training program (with open communication) but also through scheduled talks, group rides, monthly newsletters and scheduled training camps.

An overview of the Roadmap

Talks - to be held every 2nd month. They will be held at a central location in Jhb. If you cant make them, no worries will post them online for you (FREE for all our Munga athletes)

Group rides - we plan on having around 5 group rides supported, of over 200km. Some of these will trty and mimic the conditions you will be facing out there next Dec (FREE for all our Munga athletes)

Training camps - we will doing to training camps, the first planned for Jul and the second to coincide with your super-compensation in Oct or Nov (this will be at an additional cost to monthly fees)

Newsletter - monthly newsletter keeping you up to date with the latest research and approaches around ultra endurance cycling as well as guest articles from other Munganites that have got it right, completed it and excelled.
